Tyga Threatened With Eviction

Tyga hasn't paid rent in two months, according to landlord.

Tyga is being sued by the landlord of his Calabasas mansion for two months rent, according to TMZ.

The home Tyga previously shared with his ex-girlfriend Blac Chyna, rents for $25,000 a month.

His landlord says this isn't the first time the Young Money artist has been behind on his rent and says he has until Saturday to pay. If Tyga doesn't pay, the landlord will file for eviction  and charge the "Rack City" rapper an additional $833.33 per day.

Tyga was previously sued in May for not paying rent at a different property for nearly $125,000 plus interest and is currently being sued by Last Kings co-founder for $1.6 million dollars.

John Legend to Handle Music on Slave Drama 'Underground'

John Legend is bringing his talents to a TV drama about Southern slaves fighting for freedom.

WGN America says Legend and his production company will be in charge of the score and soundtrack for Underground.

The drama is in production in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. It stars Aldis Hodge as the organizer of an escape effort by plantation slaves. Jurnee Smollett-Bell and Christopher Meloni co-star.

WGN America told a Television Critics Association meeting Wednesday that Legend's company will also serve as an executive producer for the drama.

In a statement, Legend says he believes the story of people brave enough to risk everything for freedom will be inspirational.

He and his songwriting partner, Common, won an Oscar this year for the song "Glory" from the civil rights movie Selma.

"Underground" will air in 2016 on WGN America.

Could a $15 minimum wage could hurt those it's meant to help?!

The minimum wage is going up in a lot of places, such as New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seatlle and Chicago. Some workers will soon earn a starting wage of $15 per hour, more than double the federal minimum of $7.25.

“If you raise the minimum wage to $15 per hour, 55 million workers will see their wages affected—we looked at what happens after their wages are affected.”But the sharp boost in the lowest legal wage is largely unprecedented, and some economist are warning of dire consequences. A new study published by the American Action Forum and Manhattan Institute finds that boosting the minimum wage nationwide to $12 or $15 would end up hurting many of the people it aims to help. Yahoo Finance has an exclusive first look at the research, which finds that a Federal minimum wage increase to $15 per hour would cost the economy 6.6 million jobs and that only 6.7% of the extra $105.4 billion in new wages would go to people in poverty.

The study also finds that increasing the minimum wage to $12 per hour would impact 38.3 million workers. 3.8 million jobs would be lost and only 5.8% of income gained would go to workers in poverty.

“There could be quite large shares of workers affected, and research doesn’t have a lot to say about that,” Jared Bernstein of the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities told the New York Times. Bernstein is a former White House economist who has spoken in favor of increasing the minimum wage in the past. The Economist this week issued a warning against higher minimum wages calling them a “reckless wager.”

According to information from the Economic Policy Institute, the majority of those who will be impacted by a raise in minimum wage to just $12 will be white women with at least a high school education.

“The idea was to take these ideas at face value,” says Douglas Holtz-Eakin, president of the American Action Forum, former director of the Congressional Budget Office and economic advisor to President George H.W. Bush.

“It’s a strange story,” says Holtz-Eakin. “We have somebody who otherwise would have been hired and they don’t get a job. The person who keeps their job gets a raise so we’ve essentially taken the money from somebody who is out of work and given it to somebody who has a job.”

Holtz-Eakin believes that over the long term, companies would find ways to permanently scale down their labor force by automation, outsourcing and demanding an increase in productivity.

“If you’re raising the minimum wage in a place like New York City which is already a relatively affluent high-wage area it has a smaller impact than if you raise it in some place that is far less affluent, like a small town in the south.”

As Jared Bernstein points out, economics isn’t an exact science and the effects of raising the minimum wage to $12 or $15 will soon be felt, whether they’re negative or positive. Seven Nobel laureates in economics have proposed an increase in minimum wage saying that there would be little impact on employment when wages are already so low. According to the Center for Economic and Policy Research minimum wage hikes in the past have had no discernable impact on employment.

Ice Cube Says Dr. Dre Is Releasing "An Album Inspired By Compton" Later This Week

The promotion for the upcoming film, Straight Outta Compton, is in full gear, and during a radio interview this morning, Ice Cube revealed some major info about the soundtrack for the film that Dr. Dre put together. 

Cube actually referred to the project as an inspired album, rather than a soundtrack and said that it's actually dropping later this week on August 1. "Actually, Dre is dropping an inspired album, inspired by Compton. He’s dropping something on August 1," Cube said.

Previously, it was revealed that Kendrick Lamar and Eminem would be featured on the album, though no other details were announced leading up to the release of the film next month. As for the potential N.W.A. reunion tour with Eminem? 

Straight Outta Compton stars O’Shea Jackson Jr. playing his father Ice Cube, Corey Hawkins as Dr. Dre, Jason Mitchell as Eazy-E, and Paul Giamatti as the group’s manager, Jerry Heller. It hits theaters August 14th.

Ebro Speaks On Funk Flex Fiasco, Responds To Power 105.1

Ebro responds to the Funk Flex failure last night, and responds 

to The Breakfast Club.

Last night, Hot 97 promised listeners a Drake diss record from Meek Mill, to be premiered by Funkmaster Flex. However, the song never came through, and thus it left Hot 97 and Funk Flex in the lurch. This has led to a petition surfacing on the net, that calls for Funk Flex to retire, as well, Charlamagne Tha God got in on the jabs by calling him "Donkey of a Day." Meek Mill didn't help the situation when he trolled fans with an audio clip of someone yelling (labeling it as a Drake diss), leading us to wonder if there ever really was a diss track to begin with?

While that debate rages on, Hot 97's Ebro is picking up the slack this morning. Ebro spoke on the Funk Flex debacle, putting it in perspective, and later called out The Breakfast Club. "Power 105, your entire existence is based on us, and everyone knows it. And you can pay Bossip, you can pay all them black little gossip blogs to post you all the time, fam, and you can confuse everyone to make you think you really about this hip-hop thing, my g, you not. And everyone knows it. Which is why when anything important in hip-hop happens, it happens on Hot 97," Ebro said.
