Elton John to Resume Live Dates After Chest Illness
Elton John is on the mend at home after a serious respiratory infection sidelined him and sent him to a Los Angeles hospital last week, his civil partner David Furnish said Tuesday.
"Thank you for your well wishes," Furnish told reporters at the Glamour Women Of The Year Awards in London. "He's doing incredibly well and recovering."
John is expected to attend an event in London on Wednesday to mark the 3,000th West End performance of "Billy Elliot: The Musical," which he wrote music far.
He is then scheduled to start his summer tour on Friday (June 1) in Wetzlar, Germany. A spokesman told BBC News the chest infection has not changed any of the star's plans. "It's nothing more than a chest infection, you rest and it's better. Everything that's planned is still happening."
A message on the singer's website states he is "very excited" about playing at The Queen's Diamond Jubilee Concert at Buckingham Palace on Monday (June 4) alongside other performers including Paul McCartney and Kylie Minogue.
John was briefly hospitalized last Wednesday in Los Angeles with what his rep called a "serious respiratory infection." He was forced to cancel three of his performances at his residency in Las Vegas.
That show, "The Million Dollar Piano," launched in September for a three-year run at Caesars Palace.
