SACRAMENTO, CA.,//MAY 21, 2012// PMGNews//:Whitney Houston and Jordin Sparks

On Sunday night (May 20), Jordin Sparks honored her late "Sparkle" co-star, the legendary Whitney Houston, with a heart-wrenching performance of "I Will Always Love You" at the 2012 Billboard Music Awards. Less than 24 hours later, a more upbeat collaboration between Houston and Sparks for the "Sparkle" soundtrack, titled "Celebrate," was officially unveiled.

The track, which premiered on Ryan Seacrest's syndicated radio show on Monday, is a relentlessly optimistic jam that seamlessly interweaves Sparks' "American Idol"-winning vocals with those of her idol. "Though we've been going through changes/Just trying to make it from day to day/Tonight, don't you worry about a thing/Just cast your cares away," Houston sings in the second verse before the irresistible chorus returns.

"Celebrate" is reportedly the last song Houston recorded before her untimely death on Feb. 11 at the age of 48. Houston plays Sparks' mother in "Sparkle," which is due to hit theaters on Aug. 17. A release date has not yet been announced for the original soundtrack to the film.

Along with Sparks, whose rendition of "I Will Always Love You" earned a tremendous ovation from the the BBMAs audience, John Legend was on hand to honor the singer with a performance of "The Greatest Love of All." Watch the full show-stopping tribute below:
