"The Amazing Spider-Man" will pass the $400 million mark in worldwide box office Wednesday, Sony announced.
The franchise reboot took in $8.6 million Tuesday in North America
for a domestic gross to date of $153.2 million. Through Tuesday, the
film had made $231.8 million overseas for a worldwide total of $385
million.
"Spider-Man"
made $65 million over the July 4 weekend, on its way to $140 million
for the six-day holiday frame in the United States. it opened on the
last weekend in June overseas and took in $50 million in its first three
days of release abroad.
In all, the "Spider-Man"
franchise has brought in $2.8 billion since the first film debuted in
2002. Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone star in the latest film, directed
by Marc Webb.
