"I'm Grief-Stricken" Sylvester Stallone Speaks On Son's Death

Action star Sylvester Stallone’s son Sage was found dead in his apartment and now police officials believe an accidental overdose is what killed him.

Sage was planning to be married as soon as next weekend according to a close family friend.

TMZ says the upcoming nuptials and activity on the budding filmmaker’s Facebook page in the hours leading up to his death raise questions about whether he intended to kill himself, and how long he was dead before he was discovered.

Sage had posted photos on Facebook just 17 hours before the housekeeper made a panicked 911 call to authorities.

Police officials believe an accidental overdose killed him. There was no suicide note left at the scene, but Los Angeles County Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter said prescription pill bottles were found in the room.

The L.A. county coroner’s office completed its autopsy on Sage Stallone on Sunday. Results are due back in four to six weeks.

Sage was the first of two sons Stallone had with his first wife, Sasha Czack. Sage made his acting debut in 1990's Rocky V and also appeared with his father in 1996’s Daylight.

Sylvester Stallone was at Comic-Con in San Diego promoting his new film The Expendables 2 when he heard the news, and is reportedly devastated, saying he wants "the speculation and questionable reporting" to stop.

Stallone told TMZ:
"When a parent loses a child there is no greater pain. Therefore I am imploring people to respect my talented son's memory and feel compassion for his loving mother Sasha."
Sly goes on to say:
"This agonizing loss will be felt for the rest of our lives...Sage was our first child and the center of our universe and I am humbly begging for all to have my son's memory and soul left in peace."
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Stallone family during this time.
