'Magic Mike' Spurs Sales Gain for Ginuwine's 'Pony'

While the soundtrack to the Channing Tatum stripper film "Magic Mike" boasts many songs from the film, a few didn't make the cut -- like Ginuwine's "Pony." In turn, fans wanting the track, which is featured in a key dance sequence, are purchasing it a la carte.

'Magic Mike' Soundtrack Track List Revealed

According to Nielsen SoundScan, "Pony" had its best digital sales week ever, selling 13,000 downloads in the week ending July 8. That marked a 49% jump over the previous week, when it moved 9,000. (SoundScan began tracking digital sales in 2003.)

"Pony" was Ginuwine's first Billboard chart hit and became a smash for the singer. It spent two weeks at No. 1 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and reached No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100.

As for the "Magic Mike" album, it rises from No. 193 to No. 167 on the Billboard 200, selling 3,000 (up 16%).

Since the film was released on June 29, "Magic Mike" has earned $82.8 million at the U.S. and Canada box office according to Box Office Mojo.
