The Brooklyn-born rapper, whose real name is Ramona Parker, was the former wife of KRS-One. In 1988, Melodie released her first single “Hype According to Ms. Melodie,” and then her album Diva, one year later on Jive Records. One of her biggest hits was her video for “Live on Stage.” She also made a memorable appearance on the single “Self Destruction” and was able to have a cameo in Queen Latifah’s video “Ladies First.”
