Powerhouse of women’s tennis Serena Williams can add one more victory to her collection Grand Slam titles.
She advanced to her 7th Wimbledon final on Thursday with the defeat
of Victoria Azarenka 6-3, 7-6. Williams had to turn her game around
after a rather disappointin g first-round defeat against Virginie Razzano at the French Open.
And that she did. The household name hit a record breaking 24 aces
during her game, proving why she is considered to have the best serve in
women’s tennis history.
The 13-time Grand Slam champion and No. 6 seed faced No. 3 seed
Agnieszka Radwanska today (July 7), bringing the 2012 Women’s Wimbledon
Singles Championship s to a close.
Williams’ 5th Wimbledon Women’s Title win etches her name in the
history books as the first woman in her thirties to win a Grand Slam
since Martina Navratilova won Wimbledon in 1990, says the New York
Times.
