Just when it seemed that Missy Elliott and Timbaland were locked in for Aaliyah's posthumous album, the collaboratio n turned out to good to be true.
According to a press release from Missy's rep, both artists, who were close to the late singer, will not be working with co-executive producers Drake and Noah '40' Shebib for the project.
"Although Missy and Timbaland always strive to keep the memory of their close friend alive, we have not been contacted about the project nor are there any plans at this time to participate, " Mona
Scott-Young, longtime manager for Missy Elliott, said. "We've seen the
reports surfacing that they have been confirmed to participate but that
is not the case. Both Missy and Timbaland are very sensitive to the loss
still being felt by the family so we wanted to clear up any
misinformati on being circulated."
Missy Elliott also spoke her piece on the "I Care 4 U" songstress. "Tim and I carry Aaliyah with us everyday, like so many of the people who love her. She will always live in our hearts."
The news comes after Blackground Records' Jomo Hankerson told Billboard.bi z that both Missy and Timbo would definitely be involved.
