With buzz about a Diplomats New York reunion concert going down next week, SOHH reached out to the Big Apple's iconic B.B. King Blues Club to scoop up some exclusive details on what fans can expect.
The renowned venue's marketing director, Drew Granchelli, said fans should expect nothing but high-energy excitement courtesy of Hot 97's Funkmaster Flex spinning at next week's anniversary party.
"Leave it to Funkmaster Flex to bring Dipset's 10 year anniversary party to the heart of Times Square. Funk Flex and Harlem's own Dipset have defined the New York hip-hop sound and scene for even longer than the 10 year anniversary party would suggest. B.B. King's has been the home of great hip-hop and rap nights since we opened the doors, and this night should be no different," Granchelli told SOHH. "When Funkmaster Flex and Dipset get together for a 10 year anniversary party, one thing is for sure: with all the history there, it's going to be a true 'night out in New York'." (SOHH)
If all goes accordingly, Dipset and Funk Flex will take center stageMonday (March 25) night.
The Diplomats teamed up with InFlexWeTrust.com for the 10-year anniversary show, which will take place at the world famous B.B. King Blues Club in New York City. Dipset fans should try to make it out to this one if possible, because although Juelz Santana has been teasing the idea of the crew getting back together, this show is one night only and, as of right now, is the only thing on the books. Earlier this month, Dipset's Juelz Santana updated fans on a full-length Diplomats album.
"We definitely going to get back in the studio and start working on some music and if the vibe is good and the music is coming out the way it's supposed to come out. We going to put that record out." (HHS1987)
A few days prior, Dipset's Jim Jones spoke on the much anticipated reunion.
"It's nothing really holding it up," Jimmy said in an interview when asked about the Dipset reunion. "It's just an organic thing, it's a band of brothers that started this game from teenagers, made a h*ll of a lot of money, probably more money than most of the industry had ever seen, um, you know, we all was feeling ourselves, little discrepancies, got back together, loving the fact that we could get back together on our own regard because everybody is their own boss, it's still Dipset for life, all of us have been recording. This month marks the ten-year anniversary of Diplomatic Immunity 1, the first album we did together. So yes, there will be a lot of surprises this year. We plan to attack a lot of Summer Jam stages, we plan to attack a lot of venues, um, we good. You're gonna love it, I promise you. And we have some music, that's the scary thing. ...
