Busta Rhymes Explains Why He Hasn't Rapped W/ Drake Or Nicki Minaj

Cash Money Records' Busta Rhymes recently talked about his status on the label Birdman built and why diehard fans have yet to hear him share a track with lablemates Nicki Minaj or Drake.

"Um . . . and you haven't heard anything with me and Nicki. "Roman's Revenge (Remix)," that was something I did on my own. It wasn't like an official remix, so technically, we haven't gone in to do a record neither. So, Drake and Nicki, we haven't gone in, no. ... It usually happens when the times are right or when the idea is right. ... We've talked before. I've had several conversations about doing records with Drake, we've actually been in the studio trying to fuck around. Same with Nicki. It just . . . when we start an idea, sometimes you get distracted. The stars just hasn't aligned yet for that to actually happen. I think also, schedule. They've been shaking consistently for the last two, three years, putting out an album a year." (Rolling Stone)
Although Drizzy and Nicki stay busy, Busta said he has something cooking up with the Toronto rap star.
"They've been touring, ripping and running. And then when they're down, she's busy taping this American Idol sh*t and all of that; Drake is working on a new album. It's just hectic, hectic schedules. You can definitely look forward to something eventually coming together, us collaborating. I have something that's actually halfway done with Drake on a J. Dilla beat. It's incredible." A while back, the Flipmode Squad leader talked to SOHH and offered a take on Nicki's evolving career.
"I don't think there's anything missing from what she's doing," Busta recently told SOHH when asked what advice he could offer Minaj in reference to launching a film career. "She's a new artist. She's doing more than what new artists do as far as being everywhere and having the success and acknowledgment that she's had. I'm just saying the only thing left for her to do, from what I can see, and not only the thing left for her to do but the next thing that I would like to see her do is films." (SOHH)
The New York rap veteran also discussed how he has managed to maintain an extensive music run.
"I don't know how to advise people for what's best for them," Busta added. "I can only speak on what's best for me. Everybody has their own agendas on how they want to approach new ventures on a long term level and on a short term level. For me, I like to do things on a long term level. I'm careful about the business and I'm careful about the risks. I'm cautious about involving myself with the thing that's gonna set me up for the next thing. I'm not in it to do what's cool. I like to do things that's gonna set me up for the next bigger and better opportunity." (SOHH)
