Def Jam Records are shifting around their team a lot in 2013.
Coming off the departure of Joie Manda and Senior Vice President of A&R Sha Money XL, Shawn “Pecas” Costner has been promoted to Executive Vice President. Previously, he served three years as Senior VP at Def Jam that houses hip-hop mainstays Kanye West, 2 Chainz and The Roots.
“Def Jam [Records] is the greatest hip-hop label in the world and it is an honor and a privilege to work with such incredible artists every day,” said Pecas in a press statement. “I am appreciative of [Island Def Jam Records President] Steve Bartels for his leadership and his continued faith in me as we move the Def Jam brand into the future. With our talented staff, an unprecedented roster of superstars and an exciting crop of newcomers, we are poised to win big in 2013 and beyond.”
Pecas has been working at Def Jam since 2005. Before working for the label, he was at Elektra and Arista Records.
