After Nasty Split from Epic Records, Death Grips Lands New Label Deal
The controversial hardcore punk-rap will launch Thirdworlds in partnership with Harvest, a subsidiary of Capitol Music Group.
After a very public break up with Epic Records last year, it seemed unlikely Death Grips would return to a major label. But sure enough, as it announced today, the Sacramento hardcore punk-rap outfit has teamed up with Capitol Music Group and its indie-leaning subsidiary Harvest to launch the band's own imprint called Thirdworlds.
As Pitchfork reports, the band has also confirmed it has retained the rights to its NO LOVE DEEP WEB album that it leaked itself last October and was the source of a lot of drama from YouTube copyright seizures to Facebook trash talking.
The band also released the label's new logo -- a double-headed serpent wrapped around an egg (see image at right). Thirdworld's distribution will be handled by Caroline and the band has a new LP in the works for tentative release next year.
