Louie, who is credited for coining the term "Chi-Raq" in 2009, was reportedly shot while in his vehicle in Chicago.
Chicago rapper King Louie was reportedly shot in the head in the city's southwestern Ashburn neighborhood on Wednesday, according to reports. He is alive and now recovering.
The Chicago Sun-Times broke the news with confirmation from Louie's management. The newspaper reports Louie — who's real name is Louis Johnson Jr. — was shot in his vehicle around 3:30 p.m. local time.
Billboard confirmed with Chicago Police that a 27-year-old male was shot in his vehicle at that location at that time and brought to Advocate Christ Medical Center in stable condition. It is against Chicago police policy to disclose or confirm victims' names.
