Recorded before a live audience at the Conga Room in Los Angeles, the engaging one-hour special will feature performances from Ne-Yo’s sixth studio album titled “Non-Fiction,” a concept album that hearkens back to “music’s chivalrous era — one filled with soulful storytelling,” according to a TV One press release.
Ne-Yo has the audience “chair-dancing” and singing along during his sizzling session as he takes them on a journey through the album, which is described in the press release as a “musical collection of experiences, both real and fiction.”
“About half the songs on this album are based on the stories that were given to me by the fans,” Ne-Yo explained during an enlightening interview with host Smokey Fontaine.
He also shared the story of how he landed his first record deal, and how growing up in a house with eight women shaped his life and his career.
“If nothing else, it taught me the strength of a woman,” he said. “I think that’s why people feel I can write for women so well.”
The imaginative songwriter was quite amused as he shared the inspiration for Beyoncé’s hit, “Irreplaceable.”

Ne-Yo recalled a cherished conversation he had with Jackson saying, “He told me that he was really proud of the work that I was doing — I’ve yet to receive a greater compliment! And then he said that he wanted us to actually work together on some stuff. So I’m floating, I’m on Cloud Nine, and he said something that really stuck with me. He [said] ‘Music is like shapes and colors.’ That’s when I kind of mellowed out because when I’m thinking of a melody, it happens in a color or a shape. Like, different melodies have different colors, they have different shapes, and I thought I was the only person that saw it like that. So when he said it, I was like, ‘Did my management put you up to that?’ So we’re officially connected now!”

Karrueche Tran: OWN Interview Is About Her ‘Mistakes’

Karrueche’s OWN interview airs tonight, March 28, but she’s getting emotional before her heart-to-heart talk.

Image result for Karrueche TranShe posted a new message on Instagram saying the interview is about her ‘mistakes’ and ‘poor choices’ she’s made in the past. Is she dissing her relationship with Chris?

Karrueche Tran, 26, is telling all in her March 28 OWN interview. The model and former girlfriend of Chris Brown, 25, is revealing her feelings on everything from Rihanna, 27, to Chris’ baby bombshell. Before the interview, Karrueche posted an honest message saying this conversation is about “recognizing my mistakes” and moving forward. We know Karrueche’s upset over her breakup with Chris, but is she saying she regrets her relationship with him?

Karrueche Tran Disses Chris Brown Before OWN Interview — New Message

Here’s what Karrueche posted on March 28 just hours before her OWN interview is set to air:
“This evening the interview with Iyanla Vanzant and I will air. This is about recognizing my mistakes and learning from them. I own up to all the poor choices I have made and pray for the better. I pray everyday to God to strengthen me as a human and a young woman. I only ask that you at least understand me, whether you continue to like me or hate me. At the end of the day, we all have not been at our best at times so please learn from me and never forget to love yourself.”
Whoa. Is Karrueche calling Chris a “mistake” and a “poor choice?” Given the pain and heartbreakshe’s suffered after it was revealed Chris had a baby daughter with another woman, she just might be.
In the interview, Karrueche cries over the baby news, but HollywoodLife.com has learned that Chris trusts that Karrueche won’t completely slam him on camera. Well, that may be the case, but she may have just jumped the gun.

Karrueche Tran Interview: How She Found Out Chris Brown Was Cheating

The love triangle drama between Karrueche, Chris and Rihanna never seems to end! Karrueche confesses in her OWN interview with Iyanla Vanzant just how she found out Chris was cheating on her with Rihanna. Apparently, Chris had told Karrueche that he was leaving his L.A. home just for awhile. Hours laters, photos of Chris and Rihanna at a Los Angeles Lakers game surfaced.
“I didn’t want to believe it,” Karrueche says in the interview. “I was under the impression that it was a friend-type of… not a friend, but it wasn’t what it became to be.”
Karrueche’s interview is definitely going to shake things up. Chris is planning on watching it, but he may not like what Karrueche has to say.

Kanye West and Damon Dash in Talks to Buy Menswear Site Karmaloop

Kanye West and Dame Dash may be coming to the rescue of Karmaloop, the online street wear retailer that recently filed for bankruptcy restructuring. The pair announced their intention to buy the company in a series of Instagram postson Thursday following talks with Karmaloop founder Greg Selkoe.

Image result for kanye west and damon dash"We just about to do some new shit, you know, stick together culturally -- take over the world and create a whole new industry and just play the game fair," Dash said in one of the clips. "Honorable people stick together, so this how the generations do. [Inaudible, gestures to West] we linking up and we decided to buy Karmaloop -- we just talked about it, it's gonna happen."
It was announced this week that the 15-year-old Karmloop would be restructuring after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy due to debt. In response to rumors of West and Dash's interest, Selkoe confirmed on Tuesday that the three were "talking" and on Thursday tweeted that it was "good speaking" with West. Following concern that he would be leaving the company he told one fan on Twitter that "I am here to stay no matter who we join forces [with]."
Image result for kanye west and damon dashWhile the Boston-based company's core business of online retail remains strong, it accumulated a "bunch of debt" from the launching of recent business startups, Selkoe told the Gearbottle website. "Debt from companies I started with the support of my team, with the support of the investors," he said. "Some additional e-commerce sites that I think probably would've done well, but it was just too much going on at a time, we burned too much on them. So this restructuring deal will help us rid that debt and emerge from this."
Selkoe previously teamed with Pharrell Williams on his Karmaloop TV network.
Details of Dash and West's plan to buy Karmaloop have yet to be revealed, nor is there an official deal in place. Selkoe reiterated to the Boston Business Journal on Friday that "Kanye and Dame are among several people we've spoken with about Karmaloop. We're having a lot of conversations and seeing intense interest in our brand."

New Tupac Music Is On The Way

There is a wealth of unreleased Tupac material waiting to be heard by the public.

Exclusive: Tupac Estate Gets 'Total Reset': New Music and More on the WayWe recently heard Tupac make an appearance on "Mortal Man", the last track off Kendrick Lamar's To Pimp a Butterfly. The recording was taken from a 1994 interview, but it was still chilling to hear Shakur's voice almost 20 years after his death. Now, according to Billboard, we could be hearing brand new Tupac music in the near future.
JAM Inc., Shakur's mother, and Tom Whalley, who signed Tupac to Interscope in 1991, are currently working together to manage Tupac's estate, which, apparently, contains a wealth of unreleased music. In fact, when Kendrick wanted to put the Tupac interview on To Pimp a Butterfly, he approached Whalley, who was 100 percent supportive of the idea.
Some of the new music "is in bits and pieces, some of it is complete; some of it is good, some of it needs work," says Whalley, "But I think the work that is left can be completed, and is worth his fans hearing." Aside from unreleased music, Tupac's estate also includes: "remixes, original demos, writings, scripts, plans, video treatments, poems." JAM president Jeff Jampol also says we can expect a forthcoming biography from "a very serious writer."
It's also possible we haven't heard the last conversation between Kendrick and 'Pac, as Whalley says he's considering consulting Kendrick about ideas for Shakur's unreleased material: "At some point in time, Kendrick would be brilliant to work with Tupac's [material]. He's one of the new great poets."

Technique and co. allegedly beat up the vendors and forcibly took their T-shirts, cash, and cell phones.
Immortal Technique and his manager posted $50,000 bail and were released Friday.

Ol’ Dirty Bastard’s Return to the 36 Chambers: The Dirty Version turns 20 today.

Cover

Rap music’s most eccentric figure isn’t here to celebrate the occasion, but he did leave behind a phenomenal LP during his time here on earth.

Produced in large part by the RZA, Return to the 36 Chambers: The Dirty Version elaborates on the rugged and raw Wu-Tang style they displayed on their famous LP Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers).
Twenty years ago, critics received the album with open arms. The Source gave it 4/5 stars, Rolling Stone did the same, Vibe called it favorable, and fans loved it all the same. What did they love about it?
Well, let’s start with the most obvious: There is no one like Ol’ Dirty Bastard out there. There never was and there never will be. As Method Man said, “There ain’t no father to his style. That’s why he the Ol’ Dirty Bastard.” This is apparent from the “Intro”, where he sobs over contracting gonorrhea before singing these words:
“The first time, ever you sucked my dick - Thank you thank you! / I felt, the earth tremble, under my balls / Somethin' shot out of me real fast!”
Initially, it’s kind of insane the album was even released (by Elektra), let alone that it earned a Grammy nod for Best Rap Album. But as you listen on, ODB’s genius comes out one track at a time.
“Brooklyn Zoo,” the lead single off Return to the 36 Chambers takes the Wu-Tang’s hardcore hip-hop style one step further. ODB is also given some producer credit on the track that he raps:
“Niggas catching headaches, what? What? You need Aspirin?
This type of pain, you couldn't even kill with Midol
Fuck around, get sprayed with Lysol
In your face like a can of mace, baby
Is it burning? Well, fuck it, now you're learning
How I don't even like your motherfucking profile
Give me my fucking shit: CH-CH-BLAOW!”
His sound effects were unconventional at the time, and his pseudo-singing can never be copied.
The second single off the album, “Shimmy Shimmy Ya” has RZA flipping The Emotions and Ol’ Dirty hitting the reverse button on the second verse. Along with a super-catchy verse, it results in a captivating track that is as fresh in 2015 as it was in 1996.
Stylistically, the album follows the singles’ direction. Irregular flows, tongue-in-cheek singing, hilarious moments, questionable lyrics, and killer beats.
On “Raw Hide”, he raps:
“Tired of sittin on my fuckin ass
Niggaz I know, be runnin around with mad fuckin cash
Who the FUCK wanna be an emcee
If you can't get paid, to be a fuckin emcee?
I came out my momma pussy -- I'm on welfare
Twenty-six years old -- still on welfare!
So I gotta get paid fully
Whether it's truthfully or untruthfully
With my Boston bloodthirsty process
P-E-A-C-E”
Nobody in one's right mind would ever say those words in that order, but Ol’ Dirty was anything but like the rest of us. Thank God, because the world became way more interesting each time he dropped a track.
On “Goin’ Down”, Ol’ Dirty sings “Somewhere Over The Rainbow” while getting chewed out by a woman. It’s his way of saying, “I don’t give a fuck what you’re saying,” and it’s absolutely hilarious. We’ve all been there.
On “Drunk Games [Sweet Sugar Pie]”, the Bastard sings through the majority of the 4:20 track, omitting the bars completely. Ol’ Dirty may never be taken seriously as a singer, but he was actually pretty good at it. The barbaric orgasm towards the end of this track will pretty much make anyone feel uncomfortable, but that’s something ODB always got off on.
As far as Wu-Tang solo efforts go, this was one of the most focused records they ever did. The beats are all concise, and it features Raekwon, Method Man, GZA, Killah Priest, RZA, Masta Killa, Buddha Monk, Prodigal Sunn, and 60 Second Assassin on bars. The entire Clan didn’t quite make it on the LP, but it was pretty damn close.
Ol’ Dirty was seriously intense at making you feel his personality in his raps. The dude was crazy, and you felt that insanity ooze through the speakers into your eardrums. Check out this verse on “Snakes”:
“Bad, bad, Leroy Brown
Baddest man in the whole damn town
Badder than the deep blue seaaaaa
Badder than you and meeeeee
Niggas comin thru the trees, like a salamander, bitin'
Like a piranha, but I'm bitin' you back, like a black pantha
The style I'm ampin' the... fuck my name, who I be?
Fuck the game, it's all about the moneyyyy!
Owahhaerahh, sometimes I get high with the Meth
Then I turn to the Killah Priest
When it comes TWELVE O'CLOCK!!
I turn into the demon beast, yo
Yo fuck that shit!”
[via Genius]
Not everyone can get away with this type of rapping. When you think about it, a lot of the crazy rappers that have come after him owe a little bit of their style to him. Would Eminem have existed if it weren’t for ODB’s rhymes? Danny Brown? What about Die Antwoord, MF DOOM, Lil B, or Young Thug? Ol’ Dirty Bastard made it okay to be completely weird in the rap game.
He also made it cool, for better or worse, to get completely violent on the track, leaving dudes like Insane Clown Posse, Tyler The Creator, Tech N9ne, and more to rap about mutilating dead bodies. Love it or hate it, there’s a huge market for gory violence, one that, in hip-hop at least, ODB helped create.
Ultimately, Ol’ Dirty Bastard is one of the most unique, twisted MCs of all time. His style, to which there is truly no father of, can be imitated, but never duplicated. We can’t help but wonder what it would be like if he was still here to make new music, but we’re eternally grateful for what he did with his time in the rap game. RIP ODB.
