Metallica is helping law enforcement authorities try to catch the killer of a Virginia Tech student who disappeared nearly three years ago after one of the heavy metal band's concerts.

Lead singer James Hetfield recorded a public service video, posted on YouTube, urging people to come forward with tips.

"Remember, any information - no matter how small you might think it is - could be that crucial piece investigators need to help solve the case," Hetfield said in the video, which is also posted on an FBI website dedicated to the case.

The video is part of a revived effort by law enforcement to find the man who killed Morgan Harrington, a 20-year-old aspiring teacher. Harrington disappeared Oct. 17, 2009, during a Metallica concert on the University of Virginia campus. Her body was found in January 2010 at a farm in Albemarle County, not too far away.

The FBI recently released a revised sketch of the suspect who has also been linked to a 2005 sexual assault case in Fairfax City some two hours north. In that case, the suspect grabbed a woman and dragged her to a pool and park area and sexually assaulted her.

Harrington had gone to a Metallica concert at the John Paul Jones Arena in Charlottesville when she got separated from her friends, who believe she stepped outside for a cigarette.

Surveillance cameras at the concert caught Harrington getting turned away from several entrances as she tried to return to the concert. Later, witnesses told police they saw someone matching her description in a nearby grassy parking lot, and then walking on an adjacent road.

The morning after the concert, Harrington's purse and cell phone were found in that grassy field and later, her parents Dan and Gil Harrington, called police to report her missing.

Gil Harrington told The Associated Press that she and her husband are hopeful the new publicity effort will lead to an arrest.

"Our big motivation now is to catch this man and help save the next girl because he is a predator at the top of his game," Harrington said Wednesday.

The Harrington family is offering a $100,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the case. Metallica has also offering an additional $50,000, bringing the total up to $150,000.

"To have abduction, rape and murder of your child is an obscenity. It is an abomination," Gil Harrington told AP. "The band reacted to that right away. It was a matter of days before James Hetfield was on the phone to Dan saying, 'As a father, I am outraged.'"

The petite star, who addressed rumors that she is in a lesbian relationship with America's Next Top Model contestant AzMarie Livingston by, essentially, refusing to comment, let her actions speak for her by attending a gay pride event in New York City on Monday night.

The Sister Act star added fuel to the fire of the gay rumors by giving a speech at the LGBT Pride event at Manhattan's Great Hall. Latifah pulled a similar move last month, when she performed as the headlining act at the Long Beach Gay & Lesbian Pride Event in Southern California.

While both these divas won't satisfy persistent speculation about their personal lives, they are clear about one thing: their unwavering support for the LGBT community. 

Georgia NAACP to Investigate Creflo Dollar Arrest

The Georgia State Conference and the NAACP's Fayette County Branch want to make sure Pastor Dollar can be a "responsible parent and discipline his children."

The Georgia State Conference and the Fayette County Branch of the NAACP are launching a probe into the arrest of Atlanta megachurch Pastor Creflo Dollar, who was charged with simple battery last week following an altercation with his 15-year-old daughter.

“Today, many parents in any household have vivid recollections of being firmly disciplined during childhood and can directly reflect on how that discipline made them better adults. In order to ensure fairness, the NAACP wants to make sure that first responders to alleged domestic parent-child dispute calls are skillfully trained to clearly distinguish discipline from child abuse,” said a statement from the NAACP Georgia State Conference.

The State Conference is seeking information about how Dollar was handled by law enforcement during the arrest to ensure community members aren’t unfairly arrested for disciplining their children.

Dollar, 50, one of Atlanta’s most prominent African-American preachers, was arrested after his teenage daughter called 911 to report she was chocked, punched and hit with her father's shoe when the two argued about a party she wanted to attend. The arresting officer noted a scratch on the girl’s neck; however, Dollar defended himself, calling the scratch a symptom of his daughter’s eczema.

“We simply want to make sure that Pastor Dollar is allowed to be a responsible parent and discipline his children,” Fayette County NAACP President John E. Jones said in a statement. “Parenting children in this day and time can be very challenging because many children believe that they can call the police at any time to stop any unwanted discipline. Little do they know that this can subject their parent or them to an arrest. Conversely, unruly or undisciplined children could get physically hurt or suffer worse punishment when they act out and come in contact with law enforcement. African-American children suffer the most in this situation.”

George Zimmerman Afraid After Wife’s Mug Shot Goes Public

Defense lawyer Mark O'Mara says his client is "worried" about Zimmerman's wife, Shellie, whose perjury arrest put her in the spotlight. 

Trayvon Martin shooter George Zimmerman is concerned for the safety of his wife, Shellie, after news of her arrest made national headlines earlier this week and her mug shot was seen across news outlets.

"Certainly now that she's been charged with a crime he's worried about her, and also worried now that she's out in the public eye," Zimmerman's attorney, Mark O'Mara, told ABC News. O'Mara says there are "legitimate safety concerns."

Shellie Zimmerman was arrested and charged with one count of perjury after prosecutors discovered she lied about her family’s finances at her husband’s April 20 bond hearing. She told the court the couple was essentially broke when, in fact, Zimmerman had access to $135,000 in donations raised in an online defense fund.

Before the arrest, Shellie Zimmerman chose to live in hiding because of numerous death threats received against her husband and family; she testified at Zimmerman’s televised bond hearing via telephone to protect her identity. The mug shot was the first time the public has seen her.

On Wednesday, a Florida judge ordered the release of additional evidence in the case, including an autopsy report, photographs of the crime scene and details of what George Zimmerman said to police the night he shot Trayvon. Part of the evidence also revealed details of a private conversation between George Zimmerman and his wife, in which Zimmerman replies, “hell no,” when asked by Shellie whether the more than $135,000 in donations should be used for his bond. Zimmerman was released on $150,000 bail following that initial hearing, but his bond was revoked weeks later after prosecutors learned the couple “misrepresented, misled and deceived the court” about their finances.

"[His] heart just stopped. He had been sick for a long time," Nate Caserta, the son of Hill's fiancé Lisa Schinelli Casterta told ABC News. "I will never be the same. I lost someone I cared about a lot . Someone who loved my family and helped me a lot with life," Nate Caserta wrote in a post on Facebook. "You truly lived a life no one could live. You touched so many peoples lifes. Your spirit lives forever with me."

The ex-mobster-turned-government informant first gained notoriety in the underworld after he helped rob Air France of a shipment of $420,000 in April of 1967.

Ray Liota made him infamous to the mainstream with his praised portrayal of him in theGoodfellas film.

While in prison, with the help of his wife Karen, Hill still managed to operate outside the law by smuggling drugs and food. He was eventually released early in 1978 for being a model prisoner.Hill became an FBI informant following a 1980 arrest on a narcotics-trafficking charge, and testimony he delivered led to 50 arrests. Hill, his wife Karen and their two children entered the witness protection program and changed their names. They were relocated to several locations in Omaha, Neb., Independence, Ky., and Redmond, Wash.
