Lil' Kim Post-Car Accident Update

With buzz of rap veteran Lil' Kim getting banged up from a car accident this week stirring, SOHH Tiffany Foxx to get the inside scoop.  immediately reached out to the Brooklyn emcee's protégé

Despite Kim being rushed to a hospital, Foxx said fans can rest assured the Queen Bee is not suffering from any life-threatening injuries.
"Yeah, she's all right," Foxx confirmed to SOHH when asked about Kim's well-being following the accident. "Yeah, she's okay. Somebody rear-ended her from the back and kind of gave her whiplash but she's okay. She's fine. She's okay." (SOHH)
Yesterday, the Queen Bee broke the news about the accident to her 878,000-plus Twitter followers.
"Hi My Luvs. I'm ok minor car accident that left me w/ whip Lash now I'm stuck wearing this stupid brace 4 a week and a half but I'll be fine," Kim tweeted June 10th.
"thank u all for ur prayers and support I Luv u all God is Great ! #mykillerbeehive" (Lil' Kim's Twitter)
Photos of the injury started to make its way across the Internet Monday.
June 10, 2013: Rapper Lil Kim was rushed to the hospital yesterday after her Bentley was rear eged while driving on the highway. Luckily the injuries DO NOT APPEAR to be that serious. Kim suffered an unspeciifed neck injury - which the doctors suspect if whiplash. But more tests are needed before they're certain. Get well soon QUEEN BEE!!! (Media Take Out)
Kim performed alongside fellow Brooklyn rapper Fabolous at this month's Hot 97 Summer Jam concert.
Nicki Minaj and Lil' Kim both touched the stage at Summer Jam XX on Sunday. While Nicki was a guest of 2 Chainz, Lil' Kim had MetLife Stadium buzzing when she surprised during Fabolous' set. The Queen Bee performed "Queen Bitch" off her debut Hard Core. "When we talk about the ni**as who be killin' it from Brooklyn, it was only right that we got the queen out here," said Fab. There were also rumors that Foxy Brown was supposed to appear during Loso's set, but she was running late. (Rap-Up)
Last week, she helped celebrate the release of Foxx's new GOAL Diggers mixtape in Atlanta.
Legendary rapstress Lil Kim was in town recently to support Tiffany Foxx during her mixtape release party last weekend. The duo hit up Atlanta's Mansion Elan night club where Foxx premiered her new GOALdiggers mixtape to a packed house. (Straight From The A)

[Exclusive] 2 Chainz Robbed at Gunpoint Shots Fired

2 Chainz was robbed
at gunpoint in broad daylight Sunday in San Francisco ... PMG has learned ... and police say the rapper's entourage fled when it all went down.

A San Francisco PD sergeant tells PMG ... cops responded to a shots-fired call just after 4:30 PM. We're told when they got to the scene, 2 Chainz wasn't cooperative ... saying he wanted to handle it himself.

Chainz told police his wallet was stolen and that's all that happened.

Police reviewed surveillance video ... which revealed Chainz was clearly the intended target.

We're told video also shows Chainz and 14 of his people all "ran away from the incident like "cockroaches running from a flashlight."

Police are on the hunt.

Papoose Can't Get Over Summer Jam Backlash

Brooklyn rapper Papoose is having a hard time getting over the backlash he received from last weekend's unexpected Hot 97 Summer Jam concert appearance and is letting his thoughts run wild.

Along with continuing to build off his self-made hype, Pap admitted fans probably expected a high-profile rapper like Jay-Z would have graced last Sunday's annual concert stage.
"See a opportunity u take it #summerjam #getatme," Pap tweeted June 8th.
"Any upcoming concerts? looking 4 something to bumrush? #summerjam #getatme"
"N*ggas thought jz was coming out with Kendrick instead they got me #surprise hahahahah lmfao #getatme #summerjam" (Papoose's Twitter)
Over the weekend, Pap released a new freestyle over Jay-Z's "Open Letter" beat to discuss the Hot 97 incident
"I hijacked the stage with no hammer/ I did it right infront of the camera. Shades. Waving a bandana," the Brooklyn rapper begins. "...Industry never did sh*t for me, except hated on me and pull trickery/ They don't want to let a n*gga shine/ Fine, I'll take another artist's time." His freestyle is both narrative and has something for the haters. "I don't care what you all tweet," Papoose continues. "You making me a trending topic you, f*cking geek/ Stepped on the stage with Barkleys on my feet. Started going in as soon as I heard the beat. Kendrick said Pap, 'You gonna give me beef. You don't need this sh*t anyway come chill with me in the streets." (VIBE)
Buzz stirred across the Internet earlier this month over him allegedly stealing the shine by bum-rushing Summer Jam XX.

 SNEAK PEAK
While everyone that was set up and scheduled to perform at Hot 97's Summer Jam XX did their thing. New York City's own, Papoose, decided to take things into his own hands as he rushed the stage for an impromptu performance. Pap quickly ran onto the stage, grabbed the mic, and ran through his track "Get At Me" for the crowd as the show closed out. (Stupid Dope)
Hot 97 program director Ebro addressed what took place following Pap's performance.
Shortly after Summer Jam ended, Hot 97's program director and morning show co-host Ebro Darden took to Twitter to react to the situation. Ebro claimed that Pap had not been expected to perform at Summer Jam, and implied that the Brooklyn rapper had snuck onto the stage. Obviously not pleased by this assessment, Pap responded to the claims, tweeting at Ebro and stating that the Hot 97 head honcho knew very well of this performance. (Complex)
Some clarity on what really went down surfaced the next day.
Upset about the comments, the rapper responded at Ebro (also via Twitter @PapooseOnline), stating that he well aware of the performance. But, they continued to argue... with no conclusion on the matter. Monday morning (June 3), during Hot 97's "The Realness," the situation was somewhat cleared up with Peter Rosenberg explaining that, before the show, he got a call from Kendrick Lamar's people, who told him they would be bringing out Papoose. Supposedly, Rosenberg didn't tell Ebro, which is where the confusion came in. (Baller Status)

Livia Tortella Leaves Warner Bros. Records

Tortella came to the label as part of a three-executive team that in September 2010 replaced Tom Whalley.

Livia Tortella
Warner Bros. Records co-president and chief operating officer Livia Tortella has left the label, almost six months to the day after Todd Moscowitz stepped down as co-president and CEO.
With her departure, the Warner Bros. Records management team is now Cameron Strang, who holds the title of chairman/CEO for the label as well as Warner/Chappell, and chairman Rob Cavallo.

COMING SOON:

"So much has happened since moving out west two years ago," Tortella wrote in an e-mail to staffers obtained by Billboard. “We have signed and developed some amazing future superstars. This has been one of the most unique and special adventures of my life and I’ve treasured every moment professionally and personally... I’m so proud of what we’ve achieved together and confident that we’ve set the stage for even more great music that will continue this company’s legacy for many years."

Tortella came to Warner Bros. as part of the team that in September 2010 replaced Tom Whalley, who ran the label for about 10 years. She was No. 10 on Billboard's 2012 Women in Music list.

After thanking Tortella for her contribution to WBR, Strang, in a note sent to staffers that was also obtained by Billboard, said the department heads who reported to her will now report to him.

"Rob and I look forward to working even more closely with you all, and we know that transitions such as these are made possible by the depth and breadth of talent we have at WBR," he wrote. “As WBR’s Chairman & CEO, my goal is straightforward: I am determined to see our artists, employees and company flourish. Our collective priorities are just as clear: find and nurture extraordinary talent, build the careers of our superstars, and augment the range of services we provide our artists. That’s simple to say, but we’re all aware of how much energy, creativity and hard work go into our achievements. Equally, I know many of you share my opinion that there is still much to accomplish."

He noted that the label has some amazing new signings, "adding to our existing expertise and aggressively innovating on behalf of our artists. Together, by putting the music first, we will grow WBR’s world-class reputation and lead our industry forward."

Warner Bros. label share in 2013 through June 2 is 3.94 percent.

**** Livia has facilitated the launch of several label ventures, including Fueled By Ramen, Photofinish, Chop Shop Records, and more recently the legendary Elektra Records label.

Livia began her career in 1989 at PolyGram Canada in A&R, and then continued as a product manager for artists on numerous labels. After spending five years at Island Def Jam Music Group she joined Atlantic Records in 2004, where as a member of Atlantic's senior management team she played a key role in Atlantic's achieving the No.1 market share position in the US in calendar years 2008 and 2009.

Cicely Tyson wins best actress in a play at Tony Awards

Cicely Tyson's bountiful career

Cicely Tyson, who returned to Broadway this season for the first time in 30 years, took home the Tony Award for best leading actress in a play on Sunday night in New York.

In Horton Foote's "The Trip to Bountiful," Tyson plays a widow in 1953 whose only desire is to revisit her old home in Bountiful and recapture purpose she lost when she left for Houston.

Tyson beat out Laurie Metcalf, Amy Morton, Kristine Nielsen and Holland Taylor. She gave a long acceptance speech and was cut off by music. "'Please wrap it up,' it says," Tyson said, referring to the teleprompter. "Well, that's exactly what you did with me: You wrapped me up in your arms after 30 years."

Tyson was nominated for an Oscar for her role in "Sounder" in 1972. Other film credits include "Fried Green Tomatoes," ''Bustin' Loose" and "Jefferson in Paris."

She won Emmys for "The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman" and "Oldest Living Confederate Widow Tells All." She was also nominated for her role in the miniseries "Roots."

Gunplay Comes Clean On Drug Addiction Battles

Maybach Music Group's Gunplay recently opened up about his past issues with drug addiction and admitted the real challenge boiled down to him being willing to say good-bye.

GUNPLAY
"I was on cocaine since, like, 10 years, 12 years, something like that. I wasn't junktified where I was stealing stuff and stuff like that, but it was my thing," he said when he appeared on "RapFix Live" on Wednesday. "I have a strong will. I quit cigarettes early this year, cold turkey. Whatever I put my mind to, whatever I wanna do, I'm strong like that. If I wanted to quit smoking refer -- it's nothing." (MTV)
He also delved into what finally made him quit using cocaine.
Gun says his moment of clarity came several years ago and after a bit of self-reflection he decided to leave coke alone. "That happened Memorial [Day] Weekend 2008," he recalled. "I was on the beach, I was just goin' hard and just took my last blast and said, 'Man, I'm tired of my nose hurtin', tired of looking all drawed up." Without the drug, Gunplay said he now sees a difference in his music as well. "The drugs just enhance what you're thinking but when you're sober, you speak from the heart and it's not just rambling on -- it makes sense," he said. "Now you get to analyze every word and every bar and you make sure everything is on time." (MTV)
The MMG member previously delved into his stance toward drugs.
Gunplay May 2013
"I do drugs, I don't let drugs do me so I always had a handle on it," Gunplay explained in an interview. "It was just when I was ready to stop messing with certain things, it got blown up. No drugs, no b*tches can f*ck my business up. Once it starts interfering with my business and I saw it taking a toll on my health, my attitude, my outlook on life, I just said 'I'm tired of this sh*t' and I just quit it altogether. Cold turkey. No rehab, no re -- yeah I did relapse because I went to Colombia for Christ sakes, d*mn [Laughs]. I went over [there] and I relapsed. I said I was gonna relapse, I did it and I came back over here and I haven't touched it since. And I don't plan on touching it." (VIBE)
Gunplay also shared his opinion of drug addicts resorting to rehab to kick their habits.
"People are stupid. The average person is really [...] a baby, they need help," he added. "The f*ck you need help for? They need people to counsel them and baby them. 'Ohh, it's going ot be ok.' Man f*ck that sh*t! Don't put that sh*t up your nose n*gga! It's simple. People crazy out here, dumb. For me, I woke up one morning and said I'm tired of this sh*t. Tired of my nose bleeding, tired of my skin looking crazy, I'm tired, I'm cranky. It was f*cking up my life." (VIBE)
