An Ohio man was arrested Saturday night after he brought a loaded handgun, ammunition and knives into a showing of The Dark Knight Rises at a movie theater in Westlake, Fox 8 in Cleveland reports.
Scott Smith, 37, of nearby North Ridgeville, was charged with six
counts of violating Ohio's concealed-carry gun laws, said Westlake
police Lt. Ray Arcuri. A manager and security guard at the theater
noticed Smith acting oddly and asked to see what was inside the backpack
he was carrying.
Inside the bag, the security guard, an off-duty Westlake cop, found a
9-millimeter handgun, two additional ammunition magazines and three
knives. The officer found a fourth knife when he frisked Smith.
After the police obtained a search warrant, Arcuri says, authorities
found numerous weapons at Smith's home. Police also seized his car and
cellphone, which Arcuri said contained hundreds of pictures of guns.
Smith could could face additional charges, Arcuri said.
This incident comes several weeks after a gunman killed 12 at an Aurora, Colorado, movie theater at the midnight premiere of The Dark Knight Rises.
