The RIAA has announced 17 first-time digital single award recipients from August and September. August and September’s first-time Platinum award winners include British singer-songwriter Alex Clare for "Too Close," Country artist Hunter Hayes’ "Wanted," The X Factor finalist Cher Lloyd’s "Want You Back," Rapper Outasight’s "Tonight Is The Night," American Idol winner Phillip Phillips’ "Home" and Chris Young's "Tomorrow." Gold certifications were awarded to 11 first-time recipients in August and September.
As for albums, Rappers Pitbull and Rick Ross both went Gold for their latest releases, as didfun.'s Some Nights and Folk-rock act The Civil Wars for Barton Hollow. Kelly Clarkson'sStronger, Rihanna's Talk That Talk and Blown Away from Carrie Underwood all went Platinum.
