Do you hear that? It's the sound of young girls around the world crying ... tears of joy! Reports are surfacing that Justin Bieber and his girlfriend of two years, Selena Gomez, have broken up.
E! Online broke the story citing an exclusive source who says the pair split a week ago "because of their crazy schedules."
Break-up rumors have been swirling for several weeks, and last night the Biebs was spotted out in New York City with 19-year-old Victoria's Secret model Barbara Palvin prompting many to speculate that he had, indeed, moved on from his relationship with the Wizards of Waverly Placestar. (Well played, dude. Well played.)
Gomez, 20, reportedly initiated the split over Halloween. "Selena definitely had some major trust issues with Justin," another source told US Weekly. "They are [young] . . . it changes from day to day. Right now it is a break and tomorrow it could be back on knowing them . . . it's hard to say how they will end up. Maybe she feels more serious about it this time. We'll see."
Gomez began dating the 18-year-old Bieber in November of 2010, but the two did not make things official until February 2011. Their adorable relationship made news in September of 2011 when Bieber rented out the Los Angeles Staples Center and, inspired by a scene in the Adam Sandler flick Mr. Deeds, set up a dinner date in the middle of the empty basketball arena. But being the girlfriend of the guy of every pre-teens' dreams had its price, and Gomez was often victim to verbal abuse and death threats from his 30 million strong fan base, aka Beliebers, over Twitter.
Bieber, fresh off a performance at the Victoria Secret Fashion Show earlier this week, is up for Artist of the Year at the 40th Anniversary American Music Awards. We'll see who the "Boyfriend" singer brings as his date to the awards show airing Nov. 18 on ABC.
