Future is set for his first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart.
Industry forecasters suggest his new DS2 album -- released on July 17 through A-1/Freebandz/Epic Records -- could move around 140,000 equivalent album units in the week ending July 23. The set is a quasi-surprise, as its release was only announced July 10.
The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week based onmulti-metric consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). The new Billboard 200 chart (dated Aug. 8) is scheduled to see its top 10 revealed on Billboard’s Web sites on July 25.
Other albums heading for top 10 debuts include Jason Isbell’s Something More Than Free (which might start with 45,000 overall units), country superstar Alan Jackson’s Angels and Alcohol (45,000 as well) and Tame Impala’s Currents(35,000).
