Lauryn Hill may be delaying her highly-acclaimed return to music. The singer plead guilty to tax evasion charges today in federal court.
According to NJ, Hill failed to file three years of taxes on income of $1.8 million, and is now taking full responsibility for it.
"There are many people in society who fail to file their taxes on time who only face civil liability,"Lauryn's attorney Nathan Hockman said in a statement. He continued with, "They chose Ms. Hill in particular because of who she was."
Reports also claim that Lauryn spoke only a little at her hearing today, with arms crossed and in front of her chest while being addressed by the judge. She was also ordered to undergo mental health counseling as directed by pre-trial intervention services.
L Boogie faces up to three years in prison and $75,000 in fines for her offense, which will be determined when she is sentenced in late November.
Damn! We really wanted to hear new music from Ms. Hill.
