RICK ROSS 911 CALL LEAKS: "I JUST HEARD A BUNCH OF GUNSHOTS - THEY'RE COMING BACK, I'M HIDING"

Maybach Music Group leader Rick Ross continues to make hourly headlines as audio from an eyewitness near Monday's Fort Lauderdale shooting has surfaced online.
On the recording, a female details what exactly took placemoments after gunfire went off.
The call was made early Monday morning from a restaurant in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida ... while the rapper was trying to speed away from the shooter in his Rolls-Royce. A woman inside of a nearby restaurant called 911 in a panic and reported, "I just heard a bunch of gunshots go off ... and a car sped by." The caller then interrupted the operator and said, "Oh my god, they're turning around and coming back ... I'm hanging up." When the operator tried to ask more questions about the situation -- the caller shot back, "They're coming back ... I'm hiding." The caller then hangs up the phone. Ross eventually crashed his car into a nearby apartment building. So far, the cops have not made any arrests in the case. (TMZ)
New reports claim Ricky Rozay has already hired 24-hour security.
After narrowly escaping bullets from a drive-by shooting in Ft. Lauderdale, the rapper has hired armed personal bodyguards to protect him 24/7! Rick Ross was the target of a drive-by shooting outside Miami on Jan. 28, and he ended up crashing his Rolls-Royce to escape the gunfire. Even though the shooter has not been identified, the rapper had been threatened by a street ganga called Gangsta Disciples for weeks before the dangerous attack. As a hip-hop artist, Rick had armed security for big events such as concerts and public appearances, but in the wake of the drive-by shooting, he has decided to have armed bodyguards 24/7. (Hollywood Life)
G.O.O.D Music's Pusha T has updated fans on Ross' current condition.
"I don't wanna hear about that with anybody. I definitely hit him up like, 'Yo just let me know you're okay,' " Push told MTV news on Tuesday (January 29). "He was just like, 'Yeah he's just layin' back.' That was enough for me. ... It's tough out here as an artist and being in rap it's like this is the only profession where you don't really leave your core. You don't really leave your upbringing. You don't really leave that behind; you stay in it lyrically and so on and so forth. So it's like you can't really get out of it, you can't really get away from it. I don't care how much money you have." (MTV)
Prior to the latest reports, G-Unit's 50 Cent suggested Ross may have staged the entire shooting.
"Hahaha fat boy hit the building?lol it looks staged to me. No hole's in da car http://instagr.am/p/VCHWuPML2G/," Fif tweeted January 28th.
"hahaha that boy was spooked. I ride like OBAMA level 6 built proof, bomb proof, you already know. #SMSaudio" (50 Cent's Twitter)

DIGITAL MUSIC SALES UP 10% OVER JANUARY 2012

U.S. digital sales appear to be holding up after gift cards ran out early in the month. Boosted mainly by strong digital album sales, track equivalent album (TEA) sales are up 14% over the same period in 2012, acording to Nielsen SoundScan.
Track sales were up 5.4% the first week of the year but were up only 0.9% the following week. It appears gift card balances had run out by the third week as sales were down 0.9% over the same week in 2012. But music buyers came back last week. Sales were up 2.7%, bringing the four-week sales increase to 3.3%.
Digital albums charted a different course. After a whopping 25.6% year-over-year increase in the first week, digital albums fell into a more predictable routine with gains of 12.2%, 15.5% and 10.1% in the following three weeks. Digital album sales are up 19.3% in the first four weeks of the year. Take out the big first week and they're up 12.6% -- less than two percentage points below the 14.2% gain digital albums posted in all of 2012.

AFTER 50 CENT PARTNERSHIP, TIMBALAND JOINS JAY-Z'S TEAM

Weeks after officially joining forces with G-Unit's 50 Cent, Grammy-winning producer Timbaland has now formed a partnership with longtime friend/rap star Jay-Z's Roc Nation.
While details are still developing, Jay's Life + Times lifestyle websitebroke the news Wednesday (January 30).

The new hook-up also comes weeks after Jay and Tim linked for R&B singer Justin Timberlake's "Suit & Tie" anthem.
It's been more than six years since Justin Timberlake has released an album, and while JT'sappeared on numerous tracks since 2006's FutureSex/LoveSounds, the actor/entrepreneur/once-and-future singer sent his comeback missive out to the world Sunday night, grabbing Timbaland and Jay-Z to assist on the soul-pop track "Suit & Tie." (FUSE TV)
Earlier this month, 50 Cent confirmed Timbaland teamed up with him to invest in his SMS Audio headphones company.
"That's exciting, that's really exciting that Tim, you know, wanted to come and get involved with SMS. Because now, he has ownership in the company. Equity ownership and he's involved in it and it gives him the same incentive that I have with moving forward and being successful. We're doing big things. We've got the CES [Consumer Electronics Show] convention coming up. We're doing good, man." (Whoolywood Shuffle)
Buzz on the unexpected partnership bubbled online in early January.
The "Candy Shop" hit-maker founded SMS Audio LLC in 2011 and his range of electronics has been a big hit among fans. Now, Timbaland is throwing his support behind his pal's business venture by funneling his own cash into the firm and agreeing to serve as a member of the corporation's board of directors. The music producer, real name Timothy Mosley, will also help design new products. (Star Pulse)

GUNPLAY TO RICK ROSS' SHOOTER: "HE'S UNF*CKWITABLE, IT'S THE UNTOUCHABLE MAYBACH"

Maybach Music Group's Gunplay has stepped up to update fans on the current status of label bossRick Ross and assured everyone his longtime friend is in good condition after dodging gunfire this week.
While brief with his words, Gunplay confirmed Ricky Rozay did not endure any serious injuries following Monday's near-fatal attack.
"He good, he good. Rozay is good, man," Gunplay said in an interview. "He's unf*ckwitable, man. It's the untouchable Maybach, man. You don't understand. It's for real, for real, though." Reports indicated that Ross had hired 24-hour security to protect him following in the incident, but Gunplay says he's heard nothing of the sort. "Nah, I don't know about details like that. I know my dog good, though." (HHDX)
G.O.O.D. Music's Pusha T provided a minor update for fans hours prior to Gunplay's comments.

Mary Mary Answers Breakup Rumors Once and For All

In December 2012, the internet began buzzing that Mary Mary wasbreaking up. Since then, there's been much speculation about their future and if they would be ending a 12-year career. ESSENCE.com caught up with the ladies to find out what their plans are.

"I will say this, we are not breaking up," said Erica Atkins-Campbell. "But we're taking a break. I'm going to do some solo music. Tina's going to vacation and travel the world. We've been joined at the hip the last 12 years and I think in order for us both to be our healthiest selves, just as women, in the group, [we will] take some time to think and re-assess. We've been going constantly year after year, baby after baby, tour after tour and now season after season on TV."
Erica Atkins-Campbell and Tina Atkins-Campbell of Mary MaryThey will do more than rest during their time off — the ladies say they are also planning to reconnect with God. "We're singing about Christ, we're singing about God. I can't sing about God and I'm not taking the time to talk to God," said Erica.

Tina admits when they're together it's a struggle to juggle all the schedules and their workload. "Just when she's making a decision on her own,
without having to consider me, it's less time, it's less energy, it's less work, it's less emails," said Tina.

Unfortunately, because they are taking time apart so Erica can work on solo music to be released this year, there will be no new Mary Mary album. But fans can expect the duo to make various appearances throughout the year.

50 CENT GETS POUNDED W/ MORE CHELSEA HANDLER HEAT, DISCUSSES CURRENT MARTIAL STATUS

G-Unit's 50 Cent has once again addressed questions related to one-time love interest Chelsea Handler just days after getting pounded by renowned radio personality Howard Stern about their brief relationship.

Speaking to television talk show host Katie CouricFif addressed Handler and his current dating life.
"I need to be careful about what I say about that because with Chelsea, she's a sweetheart, yeah, she's as crazy as I am," Fif told Couric. "Conversation, the things she actually says, really strong personality and so you have to adapt. You have to be really quick on your feet to respond. Or you just take a beating. [How long did we date?] A few months. [Am I single now?] Yeah. [More kids?] Yes, I do. I spent about seven months of last year on different sets because I've been working on film projects and I travel so much when I'm actually touring that I'm just kind of all over the place. But a lot of free time [I stay] in Los Angeles because I have two television shows that were picked up on two separate networks that we haven't actually announced yet. [My future girlfriend,] she has to come with me. Yeah. [laughs]" ("Katie")
Last week, Fif dodged questions about his sexual relationship with Chelsea.
Is Chelsea any good in bed? That's what I want to know.Tell her I call her Gator. She'll know what I'm talking about. Yeah, 'cause you've got to wrestle a gator. No kidding. She's that wild? Were you in love with her? Yeah, she's cool. Were you in love? I'm not gonna answer that question, Howard. Why not? Because I've got a reputation. Chelsea Handler ever give you anal? I'm never coming to your show again, Howard. That was the one, right there. ("The Howard Stern Show")
Coincidentally, Handler exploded on her short-lived romance with Fif on the "Howard Stern Show" one year ago.
"[I asked him] 'You're telling me this girl wants to get back together with you but she's upset that you're dating me, is that what you're saying,'" Handler told radio host Howard Stern recalling her questioning 50 about Ciara appearing on her talk show. "And he's like, 'Yeah, yeah. When she comes, just know that's what she's after.' Whatever I called him was probably the worst thing you could say to a black person, short of calling him the N-word. Not a black person, any person. I said you're like a street person, basically, something along the lines of being a gangster. It was really, really offensive and I hung up and I've never spoken to him again." ("The Howard Stern Show")
In August 2011, Handler confessed to having a sexual relationship with 50.
"We were friends. We're not friends really anymore. I haven't spoken to him in a while... We had sex," Handler revealed. "It was fun. I've told other people. Don't feel special. [You feel special?] Well, I'm not gonna lie...I'm not interested in motherhood at all." (Esquire)

SOLANGE AND JAY-Z TO THROW SUPER BOWL PARTIES

While hopes for a Destiny's Child reunion at the Super Bowl are slim, it seems the entire Knowles and Carter clan will be getting in on the action.
According to Page Six, half-time performer Beyonce will be joined by her sister Solange--set to hit the 1's and 2's with EDM god Diplo at Audi’s After Hours party--and hubby Jay-Z, who will host a pre-Bowl bash Saturday for his own liquer D’Ussé Cognac.
Hov's "Suit & Tie" comrade Justin Timberlake will also join the festivities in a special comeback concert on the eve of the game at "Super Saturday Night,” hosted by Mark Cuban’s AXS TV.
Talk about a musical touchdown.

T.I. REVEALS WHAT'S HOLDING BACK OUTKAST REUNION & DR. DRE'S "DETOX"

Grammy-winning rapper T.I. recently discussed hip-hop fans' infatuation with seeing Andre 3000and Big Boi link up at least one final time for a full-fledged OutKast reunion.
In Tip's perspective, the reason we have yet to see an OutKast reunion or even Dr. Dre's long-awaited Detox LP is due to the artists' own fear and concerns.
"From me speaking to Dre man I heard him being open to it, I really did. I think his concern is do the kids right now who are young and buying music care enough about an Outkast album for it to make a difference. Which is the same concern that I hear from other people that we all love and respect in this industry like Dr. Dre. I was working with Doc on "Detox" and that was his same concern. Of course we're looking at them like we have such huge admiration for them for what they've done in the past, but they are looking at themselves kind of like 'What do I mean to the young kid of today that is going out there to buy music?' That's what the struggle is." (The Urban Daily)
The "King of the South" also publicly acknowledged how much he would love to see Andre and Boi hook back up.
"It's not whether or not they want to do it, it's whether they feel like it's significant enough to be done. Nobody wants to tarnish their reputation or legacy with a lackluster presentation or poorly received album after having such a decorated past. That's a lot of pressure for cats like that. But I know one thing, all you gotta do is let me know it's coming out and I'm there. That's just me. And I'm gonna make sure my kids listen to it and that they know how important it is to culture. If you are an admirer of music today you need to know what set the stage for all of your favorite artists right here right now to do it." (The Urban Daily)
A couple weeks ago, Three Stacks publicly nixed speculation of an OutKast reunion taking place despite a few joint records dropping.
In response to the persistent rumors, André 3000 issued the following statement exclusively to SPIN: "It's important for me to be clear about the origins of my contributions to 'Pink Matter' and 'Sorry.' I was approached as a solo artist by both Frank Ocean & Tip. I discussed musical direction with each artist and completed my verses. It was after that when Big Boi's name came up. I never want to mislead our audience - I worried that some would think these were Outkast collaborations. These songs are not Outkast collaborations. I discussed this rationale with Big, Frank and T.I. and everyone agreed. That is why I was surprised to read about these remixes. I understand that anyone can put out an unofficial remix to any song but I have an obligation to be honest with fans about what this is ... and what it isn't." (SPIN)
In early 2012, Andre explained his disinterest in rushing out a reunion LP.
"There's been a lot of talk on the Internet about an OutKast album and I have to say that as of now, there are no plans for another OutKast album. There's a lot of music on the horizon. I've been living off the excitement of new artists. I've been privileged to have these new artists kind of reach out and grab back and say, "Hey, Andre, we want you on this song." So I've been taking those calls and for the last two years, I've been doing collaborations. So these new artists have kind of been keeping me alive. I've just really been feeding off of that and this year I think I'm planning to do a solo project. I don't know when it will come out, but hopefully it'll come out this year. As far as OutKast, I really don't know if or when that will happen." (GQ)

Three Signs Crowdfunding Has Reached a New Level

When Kickstarter announced it received $35 million in pledges for music projects in 2012, it seemed crowdfunding had gone mainstream. Amanda Palmer's record-setting $1.2-million take certainly turned some heads. But there are signs that crowdfunding is becoming even more mainstream.

1. Bjork launched a Kickstarter campaign Tuesday to create a Biophilia app for Android and Windows 8. The iOS version is already on the market. She is arguably the most prominent musician to seek funding on a crowdfunding platform. The one asterisk here is the project is not an album or other recorded music release. If successfully funded, the £375,000 project will be one of the 10 most successful Kickstarter technology projects of all time (it is not categorized as a music project). Let's see if Android owners will come out in big numbers.
2. Crowdfunding projects now have publicists. In recent weeks I have received emails about PledgeMusic projects by Pete Ham of Badfinger, Jess Roden andGeorge Benson, and a Kickstarter campaign by indie artist sami.the.great. Crowdfunding is no longer the domain of small hobbyists. This is the stuff of full-time musicians who include a publicist in their team along with manager, agent, etc.
3. The prog metal band Protest the Hero has raised more than $261,000 onIndiegogo, a lesser known crowdfunding platform, making it the second-best crowdfunded music project of all-time behind Palmer’s “Theatre is Evil” Kickstarter campaign. With 16 days left, Protest the Hero's campaign will go even further past its $125,000 goal. The band had released three full-length albums on independent Canadian label Underground Operations before opting to take the crowdfunding route.

Obama Honors Miami Heat, Receives Job Offer

President Barack Obama honored the Miami Heat Monday for winning the 2012 NBA championship.

According to the Associated Press, Obama was very proud of the team for snagging a victory after missing the mark the year before. But perhaps the Commander-in-Chief was most impressed with how some of the team's players take their roles as fathers seriously. "For all the young men out there who are looking up to them over time, for them to see somebody who cares about their kids and is there for them, day in, day out, that's a good message to send," said Obama.

Dwyane Wade and LeBron James presented Obama with an autographed basketball and a No. 44 jersey during the ceremony. Wade jokingly remarked that his team could offer the president a 10-day contract as a shooting guard.

James was humbled by being in the White House. "We're kids from Chicago and Dallas, Texas and Michigan and Ohio," said James. For him and a number of other players, arriving to the White House to meet the president was a happy and memorable experience. "Mama, I made it," said James in closing.
James later tweeted a photo of himself with President Obama saying, "A kid with a dream from Akron, Ohio. Now chopping it up with Prez. Life is good."

FREEWAY RICKY ROSS ON RICK ROSS' NEAR-DEATH SHOOTING: "[HE] DOESN'T UNDERSTAND THE STREET RULES"

Former drug kingpin Freeway Ricky Ross is the latest notable entertainer to speak out on Miami'sRick Ross nearly losing his life after dodging gunfire and crashing into a Fort Lauderdale building 24 hours ago.
Rather than feel sympathy for the "Boss," Freeway said the rapper's lack of street knowledge contributed to what went down miles outside of Miami.
"I'm not surprised that it happened given recent ongoings, when someone doesn't understand the street rules they get confused and incidents like this can take place," he said. "I'm still dealing with ongoing litigation about something as basic as using my name and identity, that should have been dealt with properly a long time ago. We covered it in more depth in the Power of the Name Rick Ross piece." "Freeway" Ricky Ross plans to take the rapper and Warner Bros. Records to court this August in the continuing fight over his name. He previously explained that the Maybach Music Group leader has "exploited and misused [his name] since he went to prison" and "made millions off [of it]." (HHDX)
G-Unit's 50 Cent, who is another Ross foe, suggested the whole incident may have been staged.
The woman whose building Ross crashed into has since come forward to speak out.
Beth Balk, who lives in apartment that car ran into, heard it slam through the fence. "Apparently someone was chasing them," said Balk. "It was like a giant kaboom. It rocked me off the bed and I went to the front door." "In the life of hip hop you never know," said 99 JAMZ DJ Lorenzo "Ice Tea" Thomas. "There's violence every day, so you never know what happens. We'll just have to wait and see as the details develop." (CBS Local)
The female passenger's identity surfaced shortly after the crash.
8:45 AM PT -- Cops have now confirmed Ross was driving the Rolls-Royce at the time of the crash. The passenger was Shateria L. Moragne-el -- who is reportedly dating the rapper. Cops say neither party suffered any injuries. The suspects fled from the scene before cops arrived on scene. (TMZ)

CHRIS BROWN'S POST-FRANK OCEAN BATTLE WOUNDS REVEALED

R&B singer Chris Brown has been spotted this week rocking a hand cast following an alleged fist fight with Odd Future's Frank Ocean.
Chris Breezy's new cast has led some to speculate he got it from swinging at Ocean.
Chris Brown may have some explaining to do .... for a guy who says he didn't do anything wrong in the brawl with Frank Ocean ... why is his punching hand in a cast? Chris emerged from his house Tuesday in a hard cast over his right hand, covering his knuckles. Although we know Chris' version of events is that he did NOT throw the first punch, an eyewitness who spoke with TMZ says he initiated the attack with a swing. (TMZ)
Ocean is reportedly looking to press charges against Brown.
Although officials have yet to file any formal charges, Frank Ocean says he wants Chris Brown prosecuted in light of their scuffle over a parking space in West Hollywood, according to a Reuters report. That would be very bad news for Brown, who's on probation for assaulting his girlfriend, Rihanna, the night before the 2009 Grammy Awards. If charges were filed, it's possible that Brown's probation could be revoked, Reuters said. (Los Angeles Times)
Chris posted up a crucifix photo of Jesus Christ following the altercation.
So this is how Chris Brown feels about being investigated for reportedly assaulting Frank Ocean. "Painting the way I feel today," he captioned the above, crucifix-heavy Instagram pic on Monday. "Focus on what matters!" Brown and Ocean -- who has not been named by authorities but was identified by TMZ and has tweeted about the incident -- allegedly got into a fight over a parking space in West Hollywood, Calif., on Sunday night. (ABC News)
Despite the controversy, neither Brown or Ocean have been arrested.
Police say that Grammy-nominated singer Frank Ocean is "desirous of prosecution" after an alleged altercation with dancer-singer Chris Brown at a West Hollywood studio over a parking spot. Steve Whitmore, a spokesperson for the L.A. Sheriff's Office, told the Wall Street Journal, "we investigate and then we give it to the district attorney's office. This is a misdemeanor charge. We have no idea if anybody is going to be officially arrested." Brown has not been charged in the case. (Wall Street Journal)

LIL DEBBIE ON WHY KREAYSHAWN'S DEBUT FLOPPED: "SHE PUT 'GUCCI GUCCI' OUT & SAT AROUND TOO LONG"

Former White Girl Mob member Lil Debbie recently chopped it up with SOHH to reveal her take on ex-homegirl Kreayshawn's long-awaited debut not living up to the hype and what lessons she took from the underperforming LP.
In Deb's perspective, Kreay experimented too much on herSomethin' 'Bout Kreay debut.
"I'm going to keep it real. I really wasn't surprised," Deb toldSOHH when asked for her reaction on Kreayshawn's Somethin' 'Bout Kreay first-week sales. "I really wasn't surprised. I think that what had happened was she came out with 'Gucci Gucci' and people really liked 'Gucci Gucci' and then I think she put out an album and she put too much random sh*t on the album. People couldn't really tell who she was. I think it was just too different. You're going to put out 'Gucci Gucci' and that's great, and someone else is going to write it for you and it's great, that's how the music industry is but if you're going to do that and do an album, then do it with the same person that did that 'Gucci Gucci' song for you. Or do an album that's going to relate to the 'Gucci Gucci' song. I think she put 'Gucci Gucci' out and she sat around too long." (SOHH)
Deb also discussed what lessons she learned from seeing Kreay's album struggle at retail stores.
"I don't think people could really understand who she was and it made me sad because when I first heard 'Gucci Gucci,' I told her, 'You're going to f*cking get signed off this. Your whole life is going to f*cking change.' And I really believed she was going to change the game and it just made me, seeing that, realize just because you're on the Internet doesn't mean you can sell your album. Just because you're hot on the Internet doesn't mean you're going to be able to sell all your albums. It just inspired me to do what I wanted to do from the beginning. At the end of the day, even if someone tells you, 'You're going to make an album and it's going to sell this and this and this because your numbers on the Internet,' that could not really be it. I think it just inspired me not as much as go hard but to be careful with my own decisions and if someone at a label or a higher power persuades me to do differently." (SOHH)
Last September, the "Gucci Gucci" rapper's LP sold just under 4,000 copies in its opening week.
West Coast rapper Kreayshawn's long-awaited Somethin' 'Bout Kreay debuted on the chart this week. After seven days in stores, her debut has sold 3,900 pieces. (SOHH Sales Wrap)
Kreay previously spoke on what fans could expect from the highly-anticipated solo effort.
"The subjects fly around from nonsense to making too much sense and people might think I'm dissing people, but I'm not dissing anyone," she said. "It's just ... when I was in the head space of making the album I didn't wanna make an album that's like, 'This is me proving to everyone that I'm actually the best.' This is just me proving that I'm myself. This is the music that I like, and I'm gonna replicate the music that I like and put my own spin on it and put a little Bay Area in it." (MTV)

NICOLE SCHERZINGER'S MASSIVE WARDROBE MALFUNCTION, MOBB DEEP REUNITE, SHAGGY STABBED TO DEATH?

Throttle Thursday. Take hold of the wheel because today we're going full throttle starting withPussycat Dolls' Nichoel Sherzinger experiencing one of the all-time greatest wardrobe malfunctions in the world. Only problem is it's kinda hard to tell if what you see is what you get. Speaking of getting things, the full line-up of Paid Dues has finally come out and its pretty impressive to say the least, especially since "Mobb Deep" are slated to perform together. Reunion, anybody? Fingers crossed on that, just like hopefully it's a huge hoax that Shaggy got stabbed to death. All this coming up in SOHH Whacha Think.

1. Peek-A-Boo-B?
We're living in a time and age where if you're wearing anything revealing, more than likely whatever you're hiding is going to get revealed. Much like wardrobe malfunctions, there's way too many bloggers, cameras, Instagram pages for people not to catch you messing up. So the question is, would Nicole Sherzinger put herself on front street with an intentional malfunction? Media Take Out has the evidence:
nicole_scherzinger-2012-09-26-300x300.jpg
SHOCK PICS!! Nicole Sherzinger Of The PUSSYCAT DOLLS Wears A See-Through Dress . . . And Her NIPS Are The Size Of Two FRISBEES!!! January 24, 2013: Well dayummm . . . that's definitely NOT what we expected to see. (Media Take Out)
Unfortunately, you're going to have to go to the website to see the photos for yourself so go ahead. .... *Waits* .... There, see? It's kinda hard to tell, especially because the chances those huge "frisbees" belong to Nicole seem slim to none while at the same time, we've seen these same antics take place at the Grammy and Academy Awards. Could this really be Scherzinger stepping out with the goods?#SOHHWhatchaThink?
2. Mobb City
Are Prodigy and Havoc finally ending their beef and coming back together as Mobb Deep? It seems too good to be true, especially since Havoc has publicly went at P on numerous occasions and P tries to sway away from discussing it. Granted, the Paid Dues event doesn't start until March 30th, so they've got plenty of time to patch up their wounds if this is true. Miss Info TV has the skinny:
During the Christmas holidays, Guerilla Union announced the headliners for Paid Dues 2013 would be none other than TDE's Black Hippy (Kendrick Lamar, Jay Roc, Ab-Soul, ScHoolboy Q). Other performers revealed included Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, De La Soul, DOM Kennedy, Tech N9ne, Joey Bada$$ and others. Fast forward to Wednesday night, where event organizer MURS released the full festival lineup. Notables added are Mobb Deep (?), Scarface, Talib Kweli, Nipsey Hussle, Killer Mike, Trinidad James, Freddie Gibbs, Flatbush Zombies, Juicy J, Madlib, Smoke DZA, Jean Grae, and more. The 8th annual event arrives on Saturday, March 30 at the NOS Events Center in San Bernardino, California. Tickets can be purchased here. (Missi Info TV)
Could it be? As of now, neither Havoc or Prodigy have refuted the announcement, so everyone's fingers must still be crossed. They might not be as impactful as they were back in '95 but every hip-hop fan knows Mobb Deep is a brand and movement that no one can deny. Are they really back?#SOHHWhatchaThink?
3. It Wasn't Me
Death is never a good thing, especially when it's the passing of someone as historic and cherished as Shaggy. Nasty rumors have been coming out claiming he got stabbed to death. But with the recent trend of nationwide hoaxes, could this all have been a horrible prank? TMZ has the inside:
ShaggyPolice Tape
Reggae pop star Shaggy was not stabbed in a bar fight this week ... and he sure as hell ain't dead despite Internet reports to the contrary ... this according to a living, breathing Shaggy. Once again, the Internet death machine cranked out a rumor that Shaggy kicked the bucket after taking a shiv to the liver during a brawl in L.A.. In fact, someone even updated Shaggy's Wikipedia page with bogus info. But lo and behold, Mr. Boombastic lives ... and it ain't the first time he's been the victim of a cyber-death hoax. It's happened about a billion times before. A rep for the Reggae star tells TMZ ... "[Shaggy] is like a cat with 9 lives ... but I can happily report that he's alive and kicking and in the same building as me right now as we speak." Fantastic. (TMZ)
What's the purpose of pulling these hoaxes anyway? Do people get a kick out of claiming someone is dead and then you find out they're OK? Whatever the reason is, it's good to see Shagy is still breathing. #SOHHWhatchaThink?
That about wraps it up for today. This is SOHH On The Spot giving you the morning scoop from your favorite gossip sites.
