Melissa Victor, Justin Bieber's longtime press
representative, has been promoted to vice president, media and
artist relations at Island Def Jam Music Group. Department head and EVP Laura Swanson made the announcement, praising Victor, who also counts Ludacris, The Wanted and Q-Tip on her roster, for her "imaginative and creative approach to campaigns" and "untiring devotion to Justin Bieber, from his first release at 15-years-old to now."
Said
Victor: "A decade ago, Laura gave me my first real chance; she has
since proven an invaluable friend, mentor, and inspiration. Blessed
with her immediate supervision, the broader leadership of Steve
Bartels and the extraordinary roster of artists here at IDJ, I look
forward to even greater accomplishments to come." Chief among them:
upping her Twitter follower count.
The
New York-based Victor will work with artists and executives of
Island Records, Def Jam Recordings and Mercury Records on
television, Internet and print media expsure. She joined IDJ in 2009
as senior director of media and artist relations. Prior to that,
she spent four years at Virgin Records, where she worked with Lenny
Kravitz, Joss Stone, Big Boi and Janet Jackson, and more than two
years at Arista and J Records. Victor got her start at Interscope
Records in 2001.
