Universal Music Publishing Group Nashville today bolstered
its creative team with four new appointments, according to
EVP/general manager Kent Earls. The company promoted Cyndi Forman
and Freeman Wizer -- the former to vice president, creative, and the
latter to creative director -- and added Missy Wilson as its new
senior creative director and Travis Gordon as creative manager. The
quartet join vice president, A&R/special projects Ron Stuve and
creative director Whitney Williams in the department.
"These
appointments represent UMPG Nashville's creative investment and
commitment to the Nashville songwriter community," said Earls in a
statement. "Cyndi, Missy, Freeman, and Travis, along with the entire
Creative team at UMPG Nashville, are dedicated to delivering the
very best in client services to our songwriters."
Forman, who will be heading the department and will be tasked with furthering artist and writer development, has worked at UMPG Nashville since the publisher absorbed her previous employer Almo Irving Music in 2003, most recently as a senior creative director. She was able to secure writing placements for such songs as Kenny Chesney's "You And Tequila" featuring Grace Potter, which grabbed two Grammy nominations, and with such artists as McGraw, Urban, and George Strait, among others.

Wizer,
who has spent his entire career at UMPG Nashville, is a songwriter
himself, penning works covered by Tim McGraw and "American Idol"
winner Scotty McCreery, while also working with writers such as
Nathan Chapman, who has worked on all three Taylor Swift albums,
grabbing two Grammy nods for his work on her Fearless album.
Wilson joins from EMI Music Publishing, where she wound up after stints at Island Bound Music Publishing, Disney Music Publishing, and Stage Three Music, placing songs with Rascal Flatts, Aldean, McGraw, and many more. Gordon moves to UMPG Nashville from William Morris Endeavor, where he worked as a promoter and in corporate partnerships. At Universal, Gordon will be tasked with writer development and song plugging.
