Chevy Chase drops N-Word on set

TVLine reports that Chevy Chase dropped the N-word on set of NBC’s Community Friday, while in front of his African-American costars, Yvette Nicole Brown and Donald Glover. The site’s sources say Chase was struggling with his character’s dialogue and uttered the racial slur in a moment of frustration. The racial epithet was not directed toward Brown and Glover.
Sources report that Chase is increasingly more unhappy with the direction of his character, the bigoted Pierce Hawthorne. Chase’s moment caused enough of a frenzy to briefly shut down production. The veteran actor eventually gathered the cast and crew and issued a formal apology. No further statements have been released.
