Rebel Wilson set as host for MTV Movie Awards

Rebel Wilson has been tabbed as host of the MTV Movie Awards, which is shifting locales for its upcoming telecast.
Kudocast is set for April 14, two months earlier than its usual June timeslot. With a new date comes a new home: This year's edition will be held at Sony Studios in Culver City rather than the Gibson Amphitheater in Universal City.
As a big part of the show is promoting summer films, cabler believes the April move will help generate more movie enthusiasm both from TV viewers and those on social media. Studios advertising their summer bigscreen wares will likely find the April date more attractive.
Also, ratings for the MTV Movie Awards in June have plummeted in recent years. In June 2011, 4.5 million tuned in, while only 3.2 million watched earlier this year. Network is hoping an April air date will help slow the slippage.
The new awards date will set up nicely for Wilson as well. The actress recently starred in "Pitch Perfect" and has a major role in the upcoming Michael Bay film "Pain & Gain," which is set for an April 26 release and will receive plenty of promotion at the show.
