Jay Z has been hit with allegations of illegally sampling on his hit "Run This Town."
TufAmerica claims it bought the exclusive rights to “Hook & Sling” in 1996 and now seeks monetary proceeds from Jay's track and damages. The label also wants to make sure further distribution of "Run This Town" is halted because of the illegal sample. The complaint reportedly names Jay Z, Roc-A-Fella Records, LLC, Atlantic Recording Corp. and other companies as defendants.
Apparently, this is the third suit TufAmerica has against Roc-A-Fella in Manhattan federal court. Per the NYDailyNews, the first two lawsuits were settled out of court.
"Run This Town" is from Jay's hit album The Blueprint 3 in 2009.
