Young Money's Nicki Minaj has more to worry about than people biting her music as reports claim a knockoff fragrance company is cashing-in on her perfume packaging. #sprayitonem
by Cyrus LanghorneAccording to reports, Minaj and fellow music stars Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift's cosmetic products are the motivation for another company's retails items.
Cosmetics giant Elizabeth Arden is the licensed manufacturer of the celebrity scents bearing Justin, Taylor and Nicki's names ... and in a new federal lawsuit it claims a company called Preferred Fragrance has been trying to horn in on their massive biz. Two Bieber perfumes (Someday and Justin Bieber's Girlfriend) have raked in $87 million in retail sales -- while Taylor's Wonderstruck perfumes and lotions hauled in $60 million ... so, there's a TON of money on the line here. Minaj revealed her fragrance line was called Minajesty weeks prior.
The bottle is shaped in her bust with a curly pink wig and red bustier bra. The scent is described as having juicy notes of peach, red currant, and lemon, with magnolia, pink frangipani, and tiger orchid in the heart. The base consists of tonka, vanilla, and musk notes. "Minajesty smells like a passionate love affair," said Nicki. "Mysterious and sexy. An unforgettable and hypnotizing scent." She filmed a commercial for the perfume earlier this month with famed photographer David LaChapelle, who shot her M.A.C VIVA GLAM campaign. (Rap-Up)
