Rapper Kevin Gates will reportedly walk free from jail later
this month.
The “Paper Chasers” star, real name Kevin Gilyard, was
sentenced to 180 days in jail on a battery charge for kicking a female fan
during a 2015 performance.
Gilyard was onstage at Rumor’s Nite Club in Lakeland,
Florida in 2015 when audience member Miranda Dixon reportedly tugged at his
shorts mid-performance.

In video footage of the incident, Gates appeared to strike
the woman in her abdomen with his foot, and police subsequently filed a
criminal complaint against him.
2016 was a huge year for Gates, with his debut album Islah
getting released in late January and certified platinum by September. The LP
spawned gigantic hits for the Baton Rouge rapper, including “2 Phones” and
“Really Really,” but it felt like even more songs, such as “Hard For” and “Time
for That,” could have been pushed as huge singles as well.
Four months after releasing Islah, Gates was
already ready to unleash more music, so he dropped Murder for Hire 2, which
included “Off Da Meter,” a song his fans had been anticipating for a long time
